About Us — History

Founded on 15 August 2025

The Democratic Medical Association was born out of a collective need for doctors to have a true voice — one that stands united against exploitation, unsafe work environments, and unjust policies. Our aim is to create a culture where every doctor, regardless of stage or specialty, can work with dignity, security, and respect.

Core Objectives

For MBBS & Dental Students

Fight exploitative MBBS and Dental bond policies — demand transparency and fair terms.
Ensure interns are not treated as free labor — regulated hours, off days, and leave rights.
Promote academic freedom, protection from harassment, and anti-ragging enforcement.
Ensure availability of dental materials for UG & PG in government colleges.
Push for vacancies of non-academic junior residencies rather than observerships.

For Resident Doctors

Demand regulated working hours; abolish 36-hour shifts.
Push for mandatory annual vacation and a clear paid leave structure.
Oppose unfair bonds and withholding of degree/stipend after PG completion.

For All Doctors

Improve hostel living conditions: sanitation, security, and privacy.
Ensure workplace safety — legal support in assault cases and better hospital security.
Advocate for a central law against violence on doctors with strict enforcement.
Promote professional respect between juniors and seniors.
Prioritize mental health programs for doctors.
